Before I found the Alexa ratings web site, I was blindly groping about hoping for the best with whatever sites I was trying to work. Now I put every site I'm considering joining in the Alexa search to see how it looks by the numbers. It has paid off very well for me, as I can see if a site is bombing, rising, ranked high or low.
For instance Newsvine is ranked 12,749 in the US and 4,199 in the world. I can tell that it gets a lot of traffic from places other than the US. Easy when you know, then you can avoid the sites that are there but sort of out for lunch. RantRave was a site like this that I invested too much time in (5 articles) before I realized the ads weren't going to work there. I still haven't been able to figure out if the ads are going to work here. Far as I gathered they are not working anymore.
Makes me wonder about Newsvine, I like the site in general, but if it had some incentive with Adsense then I would be more active for sure. Alexa though doesn't lie and this site still is getting a fair amount of traffic. So, I'll write this first post and go from here, thanks Alexa.
As for my blogs I have now been ranked by Alexa, which is great even if they are way high. The Lowdown Truth is ranked 16 million in the world and A Writer's Review is ranked 5 million or so. Not bad for only starting them about 4 months ago. Check out Alexa to scope out the next site your going to work for.
